Clinical trials can offer people with prostate cancer new treatment options, especially when standard treatments are no longer effective. Two studies underway are the MK-5684-01A trial by Merck and the EvoPAR-PR02 trial by AstraZeneca.

The MK-5684-01A trial is testing a new pill that lowers hormone levels to slow or stop prostate cancer growth. The EvoPAR-PR02 trial is another new study that targets cancer cells’ ability to repair themselves.

These studies are important steps toward developing new, more effective ways to treat prostate cancer. They also provide patients and their families with more treatment options and renewed hope for better outcomes.

“Clinical trials are part of your treatment options, and I encourage you to participate when applicable and available.”

-Keith Crawford, MD, PhD
