This Spring, PHEN’s HBCU Strong Rally mobilized communities across North Carolina in a powerful 46-day campaign (March 21- April 25) to fight prostate cancer through education, awareness, and free PSA screenings.
Hosted at four Historically Black Colleges and Universities — North Carolina Central University, Johnson C. Smith University, North Carolina A&T State University, and Shaw University — the Rally brought together survivors, caregivers, clergy, medical experts, families, and community leaders with one shared goal: saving lives through early detection.
In partnership with Duke University, UNC Cancer Institutes, and Labcorp, nearly 200 men received free PSA blood test screenings, while hundreds attended events focused on prostate cancer risks, treatment options, clinical trials, and survivor support. Radio, social media, and community outreach efforts extended the campaign’s impact to tens of thousands across the state.
