Caring for the Caregiver: Emotional Well-Being in Survivorship

June 10 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

This month, the focus is “Caring for the Caregiver: Emotional Well-being in Survivorship”. For men living with prostate cancer, caregivers and family members are often the quiet strength behind the journey. They help coordinate appointments, support treatment decisions, communicate with healthcare providers, and manage the day-to-day needs of cancer care. But caregiving is more than a list of responsibilities. It is also an emotional journey marked by love, concern, uncertainty, and sacrifice.

Too often, caregivers’ emotional well-being is overlooked. Many caregivers focus so much on their loved one’s needs that they set aside their own stress, fear, grief, loneliness, or exhaustion. Over time, the weight of caregiving can affect a caregiver’s health, relationships, and quality of life.

At the end of this session, attendees will:

  • Understand the emotional impact of caregiving in prostate cancer survivorship
  • Recognize signs of caregiver stress, burnout, grief, and isolation
  • Learn practical ways to protect caregiver well-being and ask for support
  • Explore how families, healthcare teams, and communities can better support caregivers

Speakers:

  • Dr. Keith Crawford, Director of Clinical Trials and Patient Education, PHEN
  • Mrs. Iris Womack
  • Mrs. LaDona Christian
  • Mrs. Ilene Womack
