Prostate Health Education Network Launches New Website to Empower Black Men in the Fight Against Prostate Cancer

Sep 5, 2025

The Prostate Health Education Network (PHEN) today announced the launch of its newly redesigned website, ProstateHealthEd.org, created to provide Black men and their families with easier access to vital information, resources, and support in the battle against prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer is the leading cause of cancer among American men, relative to any other major cancer. The American Cancer Society projects 313,780 new U.S. cases and 35,770 deaths in 2025. Overall, about one in eight men will develop the disease during their lifetime. The burden is heavier on Black men, who are diagnosed at a rate more than 70 percent higher and are more than twice as likely to die from prostate cancer as white men. Roughly one in six Black men will face the disease.

Since 2003, PHEN has worked to eliminate these disparities through education, advocacy, and community engagement. The new website builds on this mission with an improved user experience and expanded tools to help men make informed decisions about their health.

“Our goal is to ensure that every man, especially Black men and others at high risk, has the knowledge and resources needed to take charge of their prostate health,” said Thomas A. Farrington, prostate cancer survivor and PHEN founder. “The new site is designed to be a trusted hub—whether someone is seeking screening information, treatment pathways, or support through survivorship.”

Key Features of the New Website

  • PHENPath & PHENTrials: User-friendly tools that guide patients through treatment options and connect African American men to clinical trials.
  • Survivor Network and Support Meetings: A growing community offering monthly meetings, peer support, and shared experiences.
  • PHENPSA: Early Detection and Screening Resources: to help men understand when and how to get screened.
  • Community Outreach Programs: Details on PHEN’s Church Partnerships, Prostate Cancer Community Rallies, and virtual events reaching communities nationwide.
  • PHENTV and Webinars: On-demand video programming with experts addressing diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship.

The new site also makes it easier for visitors to register for PHEN’s upcoming events, including this month’s 21st Annual African American Prostate Cancer Disparity Summit, and to access the latest educational materials for patients, survivors, and caregivers
