The Survivor Network supports PHEN’s efforts to eliminate the prostate cancer racial disparity by spreading awareness and knowledge within local communities. Prostate cancer survivor Nathaniel Smith joined the PHEN Survivor Network on July 24, 2023.
Common prostate cancer symptoms include problems with frequent urination. Nathaniel experienced this symptom at 48 years old. Since the disease ran in his family, Nathaniel immediately called his primary care doctor, underwent prostate cancer screening, and was diagnosed with the disease.
Nathaniel was treated at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center (Newark, Delaware) in 2015. He received treatments of hormone therapy, radiation seed implantation, and two Lupron shots that were given six months apart. He has progressed well on his prostate cancer journey.
Nathaniel joined the PHEN Survivor Network because he is enthusiastic about promoting early-detection screening among other men in his state of Delaware. He has worked as a motivational speaker in the past and is hoping to reach men about the importance of getting their prostate checked yearly once they reach 40 years of age.
PHEN welcomes Nathaniel Smith to the Survivor Network and is excited to have his support!
