On Saturday, October 19th prior to the stage play, “Daddy’s Boys” at the John Hancock Hall in Boston Pr PHEN hosted an educational workshop. Dr. J. Jacques Carter, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and Dr. Jairam Eswara from St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center were the presenters. Dr. Carter provided an overview about prostate cancer and why early detection is so important. He presented on guidelines and recommendations for early detection specifically for African American and other men at high risk for the disease. Dr. Jairam Eswara spoke to the audience about erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence. These are issues that many men face after being treated for prostate cancer. The audience survey results rated the presentations as being outstanding with comments reflecting the need to have these presentations reach larger audiences.
