Churches Are Supporting PHEN Efforts by Hosting Daddy's Boys Stage Play
PHEN began touring the Daddy's Boys stage play in 2018 to enhance and expand it efforts to raise prostate cancer awareness and knowledge within African American communities across the country. Using entertainment to educated through this brilliant play produced by award-winning playwright Garrett Davis has been highly successful. Performances typically attract audiences of 1,000+ and audience survey results show that the play is effective as an educational tool as well as being truly entertaining. Survey results show:
* 54% have been impacted by prostate cancer directly or through a family member
* 95% indicate that the play increased their prostate cancer knowledge
* 70% are interested in learning more
* 99% would recommend Daddy's Boys to others
The success of Daddy's Boys can be largely attributed to the support that PHEN is receiving from its church partners who are stepping up to host the play within their cities. Churches who have hosted Daddy's Boys include: Enon Missionary Baptist Church (Philadelphia), Reid Temple AME (Glenn Dale, MD), The Saint Paul Baptist Church (Richmond, VA), Bethel Baptist Church (Jacksonville, FL), Mount Zion Baptist Church (Greensboro, NC), Ninth Episcopal District AME Church (Birmingham. AL), Mount Olive Misionary Baptist Church (Fayettville, NC).
PHEN extends its sincere thanks and appreciations to all of its church partners joining in the fight against prostate cancer.
