Bethel AME Church Los Angeles to Host 6th Consecutive Symposium
When Bethel AME Los Angeles pastor Rev. Dr. Kelvin Calloway was diagnosed with prostate cancer he reached out to PHEN and has been an active and commited leader in the fight against prostate cancer ever since. Each year Bethel joins with PHEN to host a prostate health educational symposium which is well attended and growing.
2019 marks the 6th year for the symposium. Bryant Temple AME and The City of David Community Church is joining with Bethel along with The Men's Cancer Network in hosting the symposium. The Men's Cancer Network which is led by Freddie Muse, another PHEN Network member has coordinated a series of health screenings as a part of the events this year.
Joining Rev. Calloway and Mr. Muse on the program will be Rev. Dwaine Jackson, Sr. Pastor of Bryant Temple, Rev. Bill Hence, Jr., Minister to Men at Bethel, Pastor Demiko Fitzgerald of City of David Community Church, Dr. Ann Hamilton, Keck School of Medicine of USC. The prostate cancer survivor panel will consist of Mr. William Thompson, Mr. Walter Jones and Mr. Bob Berry.
