PHEN Expands Partnership With Black Churches In The Fight Against Prostate Cancer -

To launch "Social Media Initiative" at 14th Annual Summit

Immediate Release – September 13, 2018 - - The Prostate Health Education Network (PHEN) has partnered with more than 1,000 African American churches to raise prostate cancer education and awareness within their communities since 2009. This partnership will now include a new “Social Media Initiative” which will be launched during PHEN’s 14th Annual African American Prostate Cancer Disparity Summit. The social media effort will be presented at the summit session held as a part of the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference on Friday, September 14th at the Washington Convention Center, room 145B from 9:00 to 11:00 am.

"Our faith-based initiatives have proven to be highly effective in supporting the prostate health educational needs of our communities, and we are finding a growing call for even more knowledge. We are responding with the launch of an exciting new social media initiative," says Thomas Farrington, PHEN Founder and President.

The new Social Media effort will bring PHEN church partners together online in the fight against prostate cancer each month. PHEN will stream monthly presentations by leading medical experts that will be broadcast live on the churches Facebook pages. This will be the broadest national prostate cancer educational outreach focusing on African American communities ever carried out. The social media initiative is open for all churches to participate, and there is no cost to join.

Churches joining PHEN in the launch of the social media effort by streaming the summit program live on their Facebook pages are: Morning Star Baptist Church (Boston, MA), Trinity United Church of Christ (Chicago, IL), St. Paul AME Church (Cambridge, MA), Bethel AME Church (San Antonio, TX), First Baptist Church of Highland Park (Landover, MD), Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church (Philadelphia, PA), Reid Temple AME Church (Glenn Dale, MD), Saint Paul Baptist Church (Richmond, VA), Mount Zion Baptist Church (Greensboro, NC), Metropolitan Baptist Church (Largo, MD), Pilgrim Rest Baptist (Milwaukee, WI).

PHEN invites all churches, large and small, to join in this exciting effort to increase prostate cancer education and awareness within their communities which will help save lives. There are no costs involved for churches to participate.
