SUMMARY:Meeting the Community Mobilization Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Moderated by Adrian Backus\, JD\, MDiv \nEliminating prostate cancer disparities requires more than medical breakthroughs—it requires reaching Black men where they live\, work\, worship\, learn\, and gather. Over the years\, PHEN and its partners have demonstrated the power of community-based engagement through churches\, fraternities\, community organizations\, healthcare systems\, and innovative public-private partnerships. Yet significant challenges remain in increasing awareness\, expanding screening access\, and connecting Black men to quality care. \nThis session will examine successful community mobilization models\, highlight innovative partnerships\, and challenge stakeholders across sectors to work together to create a national movement for Black men’s health. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:LIVE Fireside Chat: Activating the Immune System to Treat Men with Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer
DESCRIPTION:The phase 2 LEGION‑100 study is evaluating an investigational treatment called SYNC‑T Therapy SV‑102 for men with mCRPC. SYNC‑T SV-102 therapy is an outpatient procedure that involves placing a needle-like device into the tumor using image guidance (CT or ultrasound)\, followed by infusion directly into the tumor of the study drug (SV-102) to help the immune system fight cancer throughout the body and at the treated tumor site. The procedure involves 2 steps: \nA needle-like device is inserted into the tumor to freeze a portion of the tumor cells and break them to release specific proteins that help your immune system recognize the cancer.\nImmediately after breaking open the tumor cells\, the same needle-like device is used to infuse the study drug\, SV-102\, directly into the same tumor area. \nTogether\, the combination of breaking open tumor cells and then infusing SV-102\, is designed to activate your immune system and educate it to recognize and attack cancer throughout your entire body. \nJoin Dr. Gerald L. Andriole\, Jr.\, who is the Chief Medical Officer of Urology at Syncromune\, as he explains: \n\nLEGION-100 SYNC-T Therapy\nTwo treatment procedure steps\nEarly findings and safety\n\nZoom Registration

SUMMARY:Caring for the Caregiver: Emotional Well-Being in Survivorship
DESCRIPTION:This month\, the focus is “Caring for the Caregiver: Emotional Well-being in Survivorship”. For men living with prostate cancer\, caregivers and family members are often the quiet strength behind the journey. They help coordinate appointments\, support treatment decisions\, communicate with healthcare providers\, and manage the day-to-day needs of cancer care. But caregiving is more than a list of responsibilities. It is also an emotional journey marked by love\, concern\, uncertainty\, and sacrifice. \nToo often\, caregivers’ emotional well-being is overlooked. Many caregivers focus so much on their loved one’s needs that they set aside their own stress\, fear\, grief\, loneliness\, or exhaustion. Over time\, the weight of caregiving can affect a caregiver’s health\, relationships\, and quality of life. \nAt the end of this session\, attendees will: \n\nUnderstand the emotional impact of caregiving in prostate cancer survivorship\nRecognize signs of caregiver stress\, burnout\, grief\, and isolation\nLearn practical ways to protect caregiver well-being and ask for support\nExplore how families\, healthcare teams\, and communities can better support caregivers\n\nSpeakers: \n\nDr. Keith Crawford\, Director of Clinical Trials and Patient Education\, PHEN\nMrs. Iris Womack\nMrs. LaDona Christian\nMrs. Ilene Womack\n\n

SUMMARY:LIVE Fireside Chat: Exploring New Treatment Options for High-Risk Prostate Cancer
DESCRIPTION:The EvoPAR Pro2 clinical trial is designed for men with high-risk prostate cancer linked to BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene changes who have completed radiation treatment and are currently receiving hormone therapy. Researchers are studying whether adding the investigational medication saruparib to standard treatment may help delay\, slow down\, or prevent the cancer from spreading to other parts of the body. \nSaruparib works by blocking a protein that cancer cells use to repair damaged DNA. When cancer cells are unable to repair themselves properly\, they may become weaker and less able to grow and spread. Researchers hope this approach may improve cancer control\, delay disease progression\, and potentially help men live longer. Patients participating in the study will also receive close monitoring and medical care throughout the clinical trial. \nJoin Dr. Rana McKay\, Medical Oncologist at the University of California\, San Diego\, who will discuss: \n\nHow saruparib works and why blocking DNA repair may help slow prostate cancer growth\nWhy are BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene changes important in prostate cancer treatment decisions\nWho may qualify for the EvoPAR Pro2 clinical trial\, and what participation in the study may involve\nThe potential benefits\, risks\, and goals of this investigational treatment approach for patients and families \n\n Register here
