Dr. Carolyn Best, Program Manager for the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP), was honored by the Prostate Cancer Foundation at their 18th Annual Scientific Retreat in 2011. The PCF presented Dr. Best with an award for “Exemplary Public Service and Outstanding Leadership in Prostate Cancer Research.” Dr. Howard Soule, Chief Science Officer and Executive Vice President for the PCF, said the honor was well-deserved.
Dr. Best has worked at the CDMRP since 2006, and has been program manager for the PCRP for four years. Formerly a research fellow of the National Cancer Institute, she worked as a cancer researcher for 14 years before joining the CDMRP. Dr. Best received her Ph.D. in pathology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
