Brandon A. Mahal, M.D.was born and raised in Madera, California. After attending UCLA for undergrad, he completed medical school at Harvard Medical School where he began clinical research in prostate cancer under the mentorship of Dr. Paul Nguyen and Dr. Anthony D’Amico. He is currently training as a radiation oncologist in the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program where he has continued prostate cancer research. His research interests in prostate cancer is the study of “high risk” populations, and uncovering the potential drivers of lethal prostate cancer. As such, a majority of his work has been focused on examining and understanding disparities in prostate cancer outcomes, with a goal of optimizing disease control for all patients with aggressive prostate cancer.
