Edith Mitchell, M.D., F.A.C.P.
Edith Mitchell, is Clinical Professor, Department of Medicine and Medical Oncology, Program Leader, Gastrointestinal Oncology, Associate Director for Diversity Programs and Director of the Center to Eliminate Cancer Disparities for the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University. She is also the former President of the National Medical Association. In 1973, Dr. Mitchell entered the U.S. Air Force and received a commission through the Health Professions Scholarship Program. She is a retired Brigadier General, the first female physician to attain this rank in Air Force history.
